Socialdemokratiet

Denmark's largest party. Since 2019 it has paired tight immigration rules with an expansive welfare agenda under Mette Frederiksen.

Venstre

Historically Denmark's dominant party. A liberal people's party with roots in farming and business, now with a broader centre profile.

Danmarksdemokraterne

Founded in 2022 by Inger Støjberg after her impeachment case over separating asylum couples. National-conservative with strict immigration as the headline issue.

SF – Socialistisk Folkeparti

A democratic-socialist party pushing for green transition and stronger public services. Typically backs the Social Democrats from opposition.

Liberal Alliance

A classical-liberal party whose flagship policy is abolishing the top income tax bracket. Wants to shrink the public sector and give people more freedom to choose.

Moderaterne

Founded by Lars Løkke Rasmussen in 2022. Sits in the centre and stresses pragmatism and cross-bloc cooperation.

Det Konservative Folkeparti

One of the oldest parties in parliament. Combines lower corporate tax, strong defence and traditional values with fiscal responsibility.

A social-liberal party that often holds the balance of power when governments are formed. Known for an open immigration line, a strong EU stance and progressive values.

Founded in 1995 and once the second-largest party in Denmark. Since 2019 it has lost voters sharply and is fighting for survival.

A green left-wing party with an unconventional political culture. Puts sustainability and community ahead of traditional left-wing priorities.

A conservative-nationalist party led by Lars Boje Mathiesen. Fights mandatory digital mail, surveillance and EU regulation that it says undermines national sovereignty.
